Why Yesroom
Not another place to review your mistakes
Many budgeting apps are excellent at showing you the past. Yesroom exists for the next decision.
| Topic | Typical budgeting and net-worth apps | Yesroom |
|---|---|---|
| When it speaks | After a purchase has posted, in a report or a monthly review. | Before the purchase: on the list, in the store, at checkout and on Sunday night. |
| What it sees | Completed transactions from your bank. | Your intent too: the shopping list, the plans on your calendar, the store you are walking into. |
| Two people | Often one login or a bolt-on shared view. | Built for a household from the start, with a shared list and symmetric visibility. |
| Calendar and location | Usually not used, or processed on a server. | Read on your phone. Never sent to Yesroom. |
| When your account is tight | A category balance, or nothing about timing. | A payday-safe verdict that checks bills due before your next paycheck. |
| Tone | Alerts, red numbers and sometimes blocked cards. | Informs, never blocks. Quiet unless it changes a decision. |
| How it makes money | Often ads, affiliate links or data partnerships. | Your subscription. No ads, no data sales. |
| Scope | Net worth, investments and long-range forecasts. | Deliberately smaller: what is left, what is coming, what to set aside. |
General comparison of approaches. Individual apps differ, and we are happy to be wrong about any of them.
What Yesroom is not
- Not a bank. It never holds or moves your money.
- Not a net-worth or investment tracker. If you want that, other apps do it well.
- Not a financial advisor. It gives no investment, tax or insurance advice.
- Not a scold. It will not decline a purchase or tell you what to cut.
Why the name
Yesroom is room to say yes. When you have it, you can say yes without worrying. When you do not, you want to know that before the checkout line, not after.
Budget for the decision, not the postmortem.
