A budgeting app that is useful in the store has to know a lot. Here is exactly where each piece of information lives.
Shared with your household
Transactions, budgets, buckets and lists, saved in our database and visible only to the members of your household.
Never reaches the app
Your bank password. You enter it inside Plaid, and Yesroom receives a connection token, not your credentials. Tokens live in a vault that only our server functions can open.
What leaves your phone from the calendar or location
Only a derived, non-identifying result, for example “a Dining estimate of $120–$160 on Friday.” The event title, the place, the attendees and your coordinates are not sent. Yesroom never names the people on your calendar back to you.
Our promises
- We do not sell or share your data. There are no ads, and no data sales.
- We never sell or license location data. Ever.
- Yesroom informs and never acts for you. It does not pay bills, move money, negotiate or cancel anything.
- Partners are treated equally. There is no setting that lets one partner monitor the other.
- You are in control. Export your data as CSV, or delete your account. Deletion removes your data and disconnects your bank connections with Plaid right away. Copies in backups are erased as those backups expire.
How AI is used
Yesroom uses AI in small, supervised ways: reading calendar titles on your phone, and tidying up the merchant names that banks send, such as turning “SQ *BLUE BOTTLE 0042” into “Blue Bottle.” For merchant names, a server-side model sees only the cleaned merchant text, with no name, account number or amount. Every dollar figure and every sentence about your money is produced by code and reviewed wording, never written by a model.
Our analytics
We count anonymous event names to learn what to improve and to catch crashes. We do not record merchant names, amounts, locations or calendar content in analytics or error reports.
